Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Sooth ("we," "our," or "us") handles information when you use the Sooth mobile application on iOS or Android (the "App").
The short version: You do not need a Sooth account. Your plan and logs are stored on your device. Selected information about your quit plan, smoking or vaping, cravings, mood, progress and app usage can also be sent to analytics services, and Meta App Events measures advertising. The current Android release lets you choose these separately, with both off until you agree. The iOS release collects product analytics automatically. These services use identifiers, so information sent to them is not fully anonymous.
Information on Your Device
Sooth stores your profile, quit plan, smoking or vaping logs, cravings, mood check-ins, notes, breathing sessions, milestones and settings locally so you can use the App. The App does not provide a Sooth account or a cloud service for restoring your full history across devices.
Your nickname and the text of your notes are not included in the analytics events described below. Events may record whether a note was added, without its text.
Device Backups
Your device's backup or transfer service may copy App data according to your device settings. This can include iCloud or computer backups on iOS, and Google backup or device transfer on Android. Backups are separate from analytics and are governed by the relevant Apple or Google settings and policies.
On-Device AI on iOS
Where available on supported iPhones, Sooth uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models for personalized insights. This AI processing takes place on the device. That does not prevent the separate analytics collection described below.
Product Analytics
We use analytics to understand how people use Sooth, improve its features, find problems and measure subscription purchases. Analytics can include health-related information about your quit journey.
Mixpanel on iOS and Android
When product analytics is enabled, Sooth sends events and profile properties to Mixpanel, associated with a generated identifier for the App installation. These may include:
- App activity: first use, app opens, screens visited, time on screens, session duration, onboarding steps, feature interactions, notification interactions and widget usage.
- Quit plan and progress: whether you smoke or vape, quitting strategy, start date, daily baseline, reduction targets, reasons selected for quitting, plan day or week, smoke-free days, streaks, milestones, units avoided and estimated savings.
- Logged activity: smoking or vaping counts, craving intensity, triggers and outcomes, mood categories and levels, breathing sessions, daily summaries and whether a daily limit was reached. Daily summaries may include information entered on days when the App was not opened.
- Subscriptions: Premium status, product or plan selected, purchase outcome, price, currency and which screen led to a purchase.
- Technical information: app and operating system versions, device information, timestamps, permission status, network information and approximate location such as city, region or country derived from the network's IP address. On Android, Mixpanel also receives diagnostic events about errors such as failed saves. Automatic Mixpanel crash reporting is disabled in the current Android release.
Mixpanel uses these identifiers and properties to group events from an installation and maintain an analytics profile. Sooth is configured to send Mixpanel data to its European Union endpoint. We do not send your nickname or free-text notes as Mixpanel event or profile properties.
On the current Android release, enabling product analytics allows collection of your current quit plan and progress totals, including totals calculated from earlier records. Individual activities and daily summaries from before you enabled analytics are not replayed. Events from before your choice are not queued for later submission.
Firebase on iOS
The iOS App also uses Google Analytics for Firebase for app activity and the quit-journey events described above. Firebase uses an App instance identifier and collects technical information to provide analytics. Firebase Crashlytics collects crash and error reports, stack traces, installation identifiers and device or app information to help us diagnose problems.
Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics are not enabled in the current Android release. On Android, Mixpanel runs only when you enable product analytics, and Meta App Events runs only when you enable advertising measurement. Earlier Android test builds collected analytics and advertising events without these in-app choices.
Advertising Measurement
When advertising measurement is enabled, Sooth uses Meta App Events to measure installs, App activation, completed onboarding and subscription purchases from our advertising campaigns. On the current Android release, this requires your separate choice. The iOS release starts Meta App Events automatically, with access to Apple's advertising identifier controlled by the tracking permission described below. Purchase events include the product identifier, price, currency and, when available, an order identifier. Meta's SDK also processes device, network and identifier information.
On iOS, access to Apple's advertising identifier depends on your App Tracking Transparency permission. On Android, the SDK can collect the advertising identifier when available under your device's privacy settings. Sooth does not send smoking counts, craving details, mood values or note text as Meta event parameters. Use of a quit-smoking app can itself reveal an interest in quitting.
Sooth does not display banner, interstitial or rewarded advertisements inside the App.
Purchases and Support
Apple or Google processes your subscription payments. Sooth receives purchase and subscription status information needed to provide Premium access; payment card details are not entered into Sooth. Analytics and advertising services receive the purchase information described above.
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include in your message. Avoid including health information or private notes that are not needed for your request.
Service Providers and Data Transfers
Information leaves your device when it is sent to Mixpanel, Meta or, on iOS, Firebase. These providers process information under their applicable terms and privacy policies. Our use of Mixpanel's EU endpoint does not mean every service used by Sooth processes data only in the EU.

Retention and Deletion
Your local plan and logs remain on the device until you delete them, clear the App's data or remove the App. The App's "Delete Everything" action clears the local quit profile and history. Copies in device backups are controlled separately through your backup settings.
Analytics, advertising and diagnostic information already transmitted is retained by the relevant services according to their project settings and service policies. Deleting a local log, starting over or uninstalling Sooth does not automatically delete records already sent to those services.
For questions or requests about access to, correction of or deletion of information, contact privacy@trysooth.net. Analytics records use installation identifiers rather than your email address, so an email address alone may not identify the relevant records. The App does not currently offer an in-app request to delete server-side analytics.
Your Choices
You choose which logs, moods, triggers and notes to enter. You can manage local records in the App, remove the App and control device backups in your device settings.
Android
The current Android release shows Your privacy choices before analytics or advertising measurement begins. Product analytics and Ad measurement are separate switches, both off by default. Choose Save choices to apply your selections, or Continue without sharing to decline both and use Sooth. You can change these choices later in Profile > Privacy choices.
Switching off a category stops new collection for that purpose; requests already in progress may finish. Switching off product analytics also clears Mixpanel's pending local queue and local analytics profile; it does not erase all information already transmitted. Android's advertising identifier can also be managed in your device's privacy settings. Earlier Android test builds did not provide the separate in-app choices.
iOS
The current iOS release does not offer an in-app product-analytics switch. You can change Sooth's tracking permission in your device's Privacy & Security settings. This controls access to Apple's advertising identifier; it does not disable Mixpanel or Firebase analytics or erase previously transmitted information.
Children's Privacy
Sooth is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the App and updating the "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
